The ZEiTECS Shuttle™ is a revolutionary new technology which enables rigless retrieval and redeployment of conventional electric submersible pumps (ESPs) through tubing by means of standard oil field wireline, rod or coil tubing technology. The technology permits an operator wherever they work (land, platform, subsea) for live or sub-hydrostatic wells to increase hydrocarbon recovery, optimize production, lower operating expenditure throughout field life at substantially lower HSE exposure and risk to staff and environment. The technology inherently permits faster well production recovery as a result of unscheduled ESP system failure.
The application of the ZEITECS Shuttle™ presents the following high level economic benefits:
- increased oil recovery (lower deferment);
- fewer hoist operated workovers;
- reduced operating expenditure; and,
- increased well value, whilst simultaneously reducing HSE risks and exposure.
The innovative ZEiTECS Shuttle™ technology consists of three main elements: a permanent downhole power installation, a downhole docking station and a wireline conveyed shuttle system to retrieve and replace the ESP. The system is installed on tubing in exactly the same way as a traditional ESP, and requires virtually the same running and testing procedures.
The unique patented ZEiTECS Shuttle™ docking system connects the ESP system to the fixed downhole power supply. This ‘plug and play’ technology means that any manufacturer’s ESP may be installed using this system, allowing an operator the optimal ESPs to match prevailing well requirements. Access below pump setting depth for surveys or well bore treatments is also possible, once the ESP has been retrieved.
The 700 Series Shuttle™ system is designed to deploy and retrieve a ‘standard’ 562 series ESP (or smaller) through 7-inch tubing. The 550 Series Shuttle™ is designed to deploy and retrieve a ‘standard’ 450/456 ESP (or smaller) through 5 ½-inch tubing.
The 450 Series Shuttle™ systems are designed to deploy and retrieve a ‘standard’ 375 ESP through 4 1/2-inch tubing.
